Silica micro powder is slightly hygroscopic. During production, transportation and storage, it is entirely possible for the moisture content to rise slightly. Generally, due to different humidity in different regions, the moisture content will average between 0.8-1.2%.

The moisture limit value shown in the product technical standard is strictly limited to the inspection conducted at the time of shipment by the manufacturer. Without special instructions, it is determined according to the testing standards of Siken Company.

If the silica fume is stored in a dry and well ventilated warehouse, its storage life is theoretically unlimited. Generally, the moisture content increases slightly during storage, which has little impact on the material properties.

In order to achieve the optimal performance, the addition amount of silicon micro powder should generally be 3-8%. When the optimal particle stacking is selected, 4-5% water (weight ratio) should be added to this type of castable to achieve better fluidity.

In order to give full play to the role of improving the fluidity of silica fume, good dispersion is very important. The addition of dispersants is generally recommended. Among many dispersants, different phosphates are commonly used.
